ABOUT
I am Katia Coelho-Aleluia, Franco Portuguese, based in Lisbon, born and
raised in Paris 9.
Graduate in French literature from the Sorbonne, I was a fashion editor for 17 years in Paris for magazines such as Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and art director for the international magazine Dealer de luxe which I founded and directed for 12 years.
In 2014, I made a 180° turn and moved to Lisbon where I successively experimented with ceramics and textile arts. It is with embroidery that I finally find my complete artistic expression by imagining abstract panels which, like the Rorschach test, allow the mind to travel and explore the projection of the imagination based on a proposed association of colors and textures.
In L'isola allegorica
serie, I consider journeys in the literal sense, abstract landscapes suggested by places visited in the past or unknown...arely desired and imagined.
In Inventing serie, I pay tribute to the artists I love, Alexander Calder, Louise Bourgois, Constantin Brancusi among others. Probing souls and
taking them on a journey is the aim of my artistic
research.
